Pahalgam, J&K – A devastating terror attack in the scenic town of Pahalgam has sent shockwaves across the nation. Multiple civilians were injured in what is being described as one of the most brutal attacks in recent years. A joint military and police operation has been launched in the region to apprehend the perpetrators.

Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep anguish, stating that this attack surpasses any previous civilian-targeted violence seen in the area. “It’s not just an attack on people, it’s an attack on civilization itself — an unforgivable act against humanity,” he said. On social media, he further added, “Animals disguised as humans have committed acts of unspeakable cruelty. No words can justify such horror.”

PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the assault, calling it a "despicable act" that threatens the values of Jammu & Kashmir. “Violence of this nature against tourists is unacceptable. It must be condemned at all levels. A thorough investigation is needed to identify the attackers and address any possible security lapses,” she wrote on X.

Officials report that local hospitals are overwhelmed with casualties, and immediate relief efforts are underway. Social activist Shaista Itoo is coordinating care for the injured and has reportedly collapsed under emotional strain. The J&K administration has promised swift justice and increased security across sensitive tourist areas.

The attack comes amid peak tourism season, raising concerns over regional stability and the safety of visitors. Security forces have sealed off nearby zones and are combing through forested areas near the site of the ambush.
