3. Pat the wet area dry with a towel. Open the windows to create a draft in the room - this will speed up the process. 
4. If water gets on the edge of the canvas, then lift it up. Place a rag or a piece of waterproof material, such as linoleum, under the carpet so that the floor under the carpet does not get wet. 

If you put a wet carpet on the floor for a long time, the pattern and color will deteriorate. Water can dissolve the adhesive, and weaken the fastening of the elements to each other.
