People celebrate Navratri by keeping fasts on all nine days of the Navratri and doing Kanya Puja by calling little girls to their homes. It is believed that young girls are a form of Goddess Durga and hence are worshipped by performing Kanya Puja.
As per rituals, a devotee can get the fruits of Navratri from Goddess Durga by performing Kanya Puja even if they are unable to keep fast. It is however crucial to perform the rituals with complete sincerity and reverence. People give kanjak gifts to little girls during Navratri.
