Political Calm Returns to Haryana as Anurag Rastogi Continues as Chief Secretary

The administrative uncertainty in Haryana appears to be easing after a week without an active administrative head. A recent directive issued by the state government has clarified that Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi (IAS: 1990: HY) will continue to hold charge of the post even while on medical leave. Rastogi is currently recuperating at Fortis Hospital in Mohali following a heart bypass surgery performed on January 9 and is expected to remain on leave until January 22, ensuring continuity in the state’s administrative leadership.

ED Moves Supreme Court Again, Seeks to Implead MHA and DoPT in Mamata Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has added a new dimension to its ongoing legal battle with Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by trying to implead the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) in it. The agency moved the Supreme Court on Thursday seeking to implead the MHA and DoPT in its legal wrangling with Mamata over her alleged attempt to foil ED’s search operation against the political consultancy firm, I-PAC, in Kolkata on January 8.
