Ingredients
Add an authentic Middle Eastern taste to burgers by simply incorporating some spices and topping with fried egg. We suggest also including some greens like kale in your bun as well as topping it off with our Preserved Lemon-Cilantro Yogurt Sauce for an irresistibly tasty burger!
Mix together beef mince with salt and pepper as well as one teaspoon of Ras-el-Hanout in a bowl until well mixed, using wet hands to shape four equal burger patties (Ras-el-Hanout is a spicy Moroccan spice blend; for milder results reduce by 1/4 teaspoon).
Make these delicious burgers on either a barbecue grill, indoor griddle pan, or both for 6 minutes on each side for medium burgers. Serve in toasted buns with shaved kale or other greens and dollop of yogurt sauce; for an added layer of decadence add one runny fried egg on top for extra indulgence!
Preparation
To prepare the burgers, combine ground lamb with onion, cilantro, parsley, cumin and paprika before stirring in salt and pepper. Form four patties from this mixture before heating a pan or griddle to medium heat; cook each side of the patties for three minutes on one side, two minutes on another before flipping them. Meanwhile toast buns before spreading special sauce.
Serve on brioche buns with capsicums, mushrooms, lettuce and feta cheese for maximum flavour! Add an additional twist by drizzle pesto over it all for extra flair!
This Moroccan beef burger recipe is an easy and quick way to elevate the classic meat pattie burger. Simply prepare them as is or add extra flavour with caramelised onions, feta cheese or pesto as desired.
These burgers get their smoky flavour from using ras el hanout spice blend, which is a traditional Moroccan seasoning which can be purchased at most grocery stores or easily made at home.
Cooking
Moroccan Burger Mix is ideal for anyone looking for an alternative to beef burgers, providing North African flavour with chilli powder and dried apricots/sultanas as sweeteners. Each pack of 340g provides enough ingredients for 10lb batch of burgers.
Combine ground beef, onion, garlic, parsley and Ras-el-hanout spice blend. Work this combination well using your hands before shaping into four equal patties and refrigerating for 30 minutes - this allows the flavors to permeate through and ensures an outstanding result!
Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the burgers reach an internal temperature of 75C for an irresistibly juicy experience with no dry spots!
Serve the burgers on toasted buns with salad and an extra special sauce on the side, such as gut-friendly yoghurt or our homemade harissa mayonnaise (see Recipes). For an authentic Moroccan taste, top your burger off with slices of haloumi.
Serving
Perfect as the topping on our lamb burger mix, this combination brings Moroccan flavor. Chilli powder adds heat, while mint balances out its spicy kick while dried apricots and sultanas provide sweetness.
Blend the mixture thoroughly until it resembles a smooth and even paste-like consistency, as this helps ensure that burgers hold together during cooking.
If the burgers become too sticky for you to handle, simply refrigerate for 15-20 minutes before trying again. Additionally, add extra pulses if the mixture becomes too pasty.
Combine beef mince, parsley and Ras el Hanout in a bowl using your hands. Squish together until everything is mixed well (and use lots of squidging!), before shaping into 4 patties to be placed onto toasted buns with any fillings of your choosing (we love capsicums, mushrooms and lettuce!). Finish them off with homemade tzatziki sauce!
