- Camping –
Coorg is one of the most famous camping destinations among the Western Ghat region as an individual can see clear skies at an elevated land. This would require the campers to go through the dense forests in the afternoon to set up their camps and all the other necessary activities such as setting up their bonfires and other security commodities. Moreover, the area is so extensively used for camping that even a beginner can spot apt locations for camping in the area. - Kayaking –
There are some really turbulent and calm waters in and around Coorg. These water bodies allow the tourists to cater to an experience of kayaking in the calm waters of Coorg. Since this sport requires turbulent waters, the team needs to go up to the source of such waters which may require traversing through the dense jungles of Coorg. - Trekking –
The Western Ghats are very well known for their trekking spots which range from the Maharashtrian region down to the state of Kerala. Coorg, caught up in the middle also provides some trekking spots to the tourists. The Doddabetta peak with an altitude of 2637 meters, stands tall in the Coorg region and is also the highest peak in the Nilgiri Hills region of the Western Ghats. Since it is the highest peak in the region, it possesses a challenge to all the trekking enthusiasts around the region and sees a lot of trekkers near the peak, trying their best to climb this summit.
While climbing, one can witness the mighty mountains and the valleys from the top. Along the trek, the route comprises of several plants some of which may be harmful to human life as they might cause rashes or other skin infections to the human beings. A great variety of insects and birds can also be found during the trek. All such things make trekking in the Coorg region wonderful and thrilling as well.
- Jungle Safari –
Other activities listed before such as rafting, trekking, etc. include indirect forms of jungle safari. But, a proper jungle safari would include a trip to the dense forests on a jeep or a similar vehicle with a tour guide or someone with enough information about the area. Since the trained officials know the habitat of the wildlife residing over here, they can directly step into their habitat with caution and the tourists can encounter the rich wildlife around the hilly region. This might also include migratory birds and animals like tiger, elephants, etc. on your way to the tour. One must also remember not to tamper their habitats and not to play tricks with the animals on seeing them as this could instigate them and such situations might not work in your favor.
