The Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders were both in free fall a few weeks ago. The Cowboys had fallen apart without Ezekiel Elliott, Tyron Smith and Sean Lee, while the Raiders has just lost the form that led to last season s surprise playoff run. Given the seemingly lowered stakes of the matchup, there were rumblings that their Week 15 game would be flexed out of its spot on Sunday Night Football.

But according to Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network, that is not going to happen. The game will remain in place on Sunday Anthony Hitchens Jersey Night Football in two weeks. Both teams have clawed their way back to .500 after wins last week, and are firmly in the hunt for playoff spots in their respective conferences.

The Raiders are now tied for first place in the AFC West after the surprising collapse of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Cowboys , on the other hand, are well behind the Philadelphia Eagles, but they have a cakewalk against the New York Giants in Week 14 while their game with the Raiders is the last they will play without Elliott. If they can just make it through these next two games, they will be at full strength the rest of the way.

The game was scheduled on Sunday Night Football in the first place because of the potentially massive playoff implications of two of last year s best teams meeting so late in the season. After a rocky month, those implications still very much exist.
